Eccentric music mogul Derek Norton (Steve Carell) has a habit of stumbling upon his acts in the most unexpected of ways.  This time, he meets Pink Lemonade, an ‘80s cover band duo featuring best friends Melinda (Amy Poehler) and Desiree (Pauley Perrette), in a train station late one night.  After agreeing to let Derek represent the band, the girls gather the few belongings they have and head to New York City.  Before long, Derek has Pink Lemonade doing a few shows a week in the city, hoping that they’ll gain a following.  Derek’s rules are simple: no drugs, no leather pants, and no dating fellow clients.  Melinda finds out that she is in breach of contract when finds out that her new boyfriend Ace Phillips (Jason Sudeikis), a local Doo Wop crooner, is also managed by Derek.  Now, she has to find a way to continue being both rock star and groupie without Derek or Desiree finding out.  It’s the screwball comedy that follows the rise and fall of the greatest cover band you’ve never heard of.
